MEET THE SPROODLE
Smart, affectionate, playful—and remarkably low-shedding.
A Sproodle combines the friendly, devoted nature of the English Springer Spaniel with the intelligence and low-shedding coat of the Poodle.
We've been breeding dogs since 1989, and Sproodles joined our breeding program 20 years ago. Since then, we've watched generations of these wonderful dogs grow from puppies into much-loved family companions.
Our experience with Sproodles goes well beyond raising puppies. We've shared our home with them for 16 years, giving us firsthand knowledge of their temperament, coats, quirks, and what they're really like to live with.
If you're considering a Sproodle, you've come to the right place to learn about them.
The Sproodle Story
Our journey to Sproodles began about 20 years ago, when we made the transition from raising purebred Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers to the Doodle world.
We initially raised both Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. While we loved the wonderful temperament of our Labs, we found that their short, coarse coats didn't always blend predictably with the Poodle coat. The resulting puppies could have quite different coat types, sometimes leaving families disappointed when their puppy's adult coat wasn't what they had expected.
We began looking for another breed that offered the qualities we valued in our retrievers while giving us a different foundation for our Doodle program. I'd always loved English Springer Spaniels—their slightly smaller size, beautiful coloring, and, most importantly, their friendly, family-oriented temperament.
So we decided to give the Springer Spaniel–Poodle combination a try.
The Sproodles were an instant hit.
We discovered dogs that were smart, affectionate and eager to be part of the family, with the wonderful personality we'd hoped for and the beautiful variety of coats and colors that first attracted us to the combination.
Twenty years later, Sproodles remain an important part of our breeding program—and after sharing my own home with them for 16 years, they're an important part of my family, too.
